Why cats scratch? ( H: E7 I/ K/ x+ c' C
+ ]# K2 l o4 r% z8 rUnlike human nails, cats have to scratch against coarse surface to remove the outer shell of the old nail. The reason is to replace a new sharp claw for better hunting. Imagine piling up a stack of hats... the top hat is the old nail which will become blunt over time, so the cat will scratch to remove it to show the sharp one underneath." Z) n" b1 `& n" K+ B

How can you blame your cat for being natural? You should buy a scratching pole and show him by scratching with your own fingers, most of the cats will figure out what to follow.6 Y/ U4 U9 S9 F9 q

Another reason is that some cats when they grow to their maturity, they become territorial and because they have scent glands located underneath the front claws they leave their own smells by scratching to mark their ownership. You may rub a towel against their chin, then rub it on the place they scratched. This may reduce their frequent visit for marking scents.$ Z" p. y. L. ?! B) g8 j3 G0 ?
